Red Rooms 2024
A high-caliber art film that uses an air of gravitas and good taste to make its implied shock content earn its shock value. It is a slow, minimal burn that employs long takes, nonverbal acting, and some of the sharpest of tech knowledge I've seen in a film to give an exploitation topic a serious, psychological study. I love so much about what Pascal Plante does here, but that makes it all the more frustrating when it teases its why only to never have a why *nor* have the lack of why be its why.
