I listened back to the Cinematic Schematic podcast episode on this (hosted by 2 Oklahomies), and they compared this favorably to Longlegs, suggesting that while both films had a disappointing reveal, it worked better in Weapons. I actually prefer how Longlegs did it, tbh. And while we're comparing, I also think the child/parent dynamic and escalation into camp was better in Cobweb, but it seems folks panned Cobweb, if they saw it at all.

That's super interesting!! I felt the exact opposite about longlegs. Longlegs felt like a played out version I would have seen in the 90s, but Weapons was at least fun. I also absolutely love Cobweb and its the superior film to the other two... those are my opinions haha.

Right? I'm def in the minority on this. I think it's the atmosphere and lore that I prefer, even if it's less daring or fresh. Still need to see Barbarian, though.
