The Hipsters Guide To Surviving : "An Autumn Day in 2009"

- Coffee
- If you’re wearing an owl necklace, mustache shirt, & have a chunky cardigan, order a pumpkin spice latte with whipped cream. (Bonus points if you bring a cinnamon stick)
- If you own a fedora, Mumford & Sons band tee from their tour this year, & you have a barely visible 5 o'clock shadow rooting in, order an extra dry cappuccino. Don’t worry….we wont snitch if you add a little sugar.
- If you’re wearing bright colored tights, a chunky scarf, & you have a braid in your hair, order a drip coffee with some sort of flavor + oat milk. You probably like honey or vanilla but NEVER hazelnut. You’re manic but we love you.
- If you’ve been non-stop listening to Death Cab For Cutie on repeat and you have a gold nose ring, order a hot chocolate with EXTRA whipped cream. We know you’re going to blog about it, so make it picture perfect.
- If you have a hair feather, tote bag, + you’re rocking the boots under that maxi skirt (which we all know you are), order a black tea with honey.
- If you own a Norah Jones cd & have an obsession with Bath & Body Works Autumn collection, order a Butterscotch latte. You whimsy little freak.
- Staple Pieces for the season & Where to shop
- Chunky scarves
- Fingerless gloves with buttons (Bonus if you knit them yourself)
- Colored tights
- Patterned shorts worn over tights
- Blouses with fun patterns (Foxes, owls, hearts, arrows, etc)
- Corduroy suits
- Blazers with ANY outfit
- Ties with dresses
- Short collared dresses
- Tight fitted cardigans
- Peterpan collars (Add pins and buttons)
- Band tees with your blazers
- Uggs (Dirtier the better)
- Classic black & white converse (Low top duh)
- Oversized fur coats (Hello Margot Tenenbaum)
- Polka dots

Let’s be honest. iPods are the way to go, always. They last FOREVER + you can download SO much music onto them. Forget your iPhone, kick it old school. CD’s are a great option too!

The guide to a perfect fall day in 2009.
Wake up earlier than usual. Not terribly early, but more so than what’s typical.
Roll out of bed, slip on your chunky knit socks & oversized cardigan. Yawn while doing the typical “I’m a girl in a movie” stretch.
Mozy down to the kitchen and look through the cabinets or something to eat. After a few minutes, you decide to go out for coffee instead. You walk back upstairs to your room. Brush your teeth, do your hair, pop on some makeup + your Sweet Pumpkin Bath & Body Works Body spray. That collection is to die for! Ugh!
Walk over to your closet. You’re having a hard time deciding between your peter pan collared fox print dress paired with the bright cherry red tights or the skinny jeans with a chunky sweater and scarf with your well loved converse. Decisions, decisions.
You hear a roar of thunder and realize it’s starting to storm. Chunky sweater it is! What’s a perfect Autumn day without gloomy weather to match? Also, it's FREEZING out!
Grab your totebag, and for the love of god please dont forget your ipod & new Death Cab CD!
You head out to your fav coffee spot. You order a pumpkin spice latte with extra whipped cream and you ask if they can make it in your mug you brought from home. As you’re waiting for your coffee, you sit at the window table, because duh! The rain is coming down, you hear light conversations with other manic pixie dream girls and guys wearing fedoras. You can smell the fresh baked pastries from the case and the espresso beans being ground up fresh.
The barista delivers your coffee and you breathe it in before taking a sip. You also snap a photo for your blog! What hashtags are we using today?

Today's agenda is to head to Barnes & Noble, a few thrift stores, & then you’re meeting a few friends for a kick back dinner at the new local ramen spot. So much to look forward to. The world is on a fast moving clock, but for once, you feel like time stops. Your heart is in a state of pure bliss. Never leave it. There's just something about the season change that makes us feel more us.
